Sheila Allen Executive Director, Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance
Sheila is the founding Executive Director of the Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance serving for the last 12 years. She has been instrumental in building an organization that serves as a vital voice for older adults in Yolo County and elected officials and community leaders consider her the expert in addressing senior issues. Sheila also serves as staff to Yolo County Supervisor Jim Provenza and to the Yolo County Commission on Aging and Adult Services that is focusing on emergency preparedness for older adults. Dr. Allen is an involved community member having served on a variety of educational, social, and health boards and committees such as Trustee of the Davis Unified School District, Board Member of First Five Yolo, President of Explorit Science Center, Director of American Nurses Association-California, Advisory Committee member of the Yolo County In-Home Supportive Services, Chair of Yolo County Health Council and, Chair of City of Davis Human Relations and Unitrans Advisory Committees. Sheila holds a B.S in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin, and a Master's and a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of San Francisco with a focus on public health and policy. Dr. Allen lives in Davis with her husband, a professor at UC Davis, and is a proud parent of 3 adult children.
