Lou Ziskind joined the Retiree Center in January 2019 as Director, with a strong background in directing nonprofit organizations, including interim executive director of International House Davis (2015-2017); executive director of Explorit Science Center (2007-2011); COO for Girl Scouts — Joshua Tree Council, Bakersfield (1997-2006); executive director of Suicide Prevention Service, Sacramento (1991-1993); and regional director (Latin America/Caribbean) of Freedom From Hunger, Davis (1980-1989). Beginning his international experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia, South America, Lou has lived and worked in a number of countries while working at CARE International, Freedom from Hunger Foundation and Feed the Children. He is a past president and currently a board member of the Davis Sunset Rotary Club. Lou also serves on the boards KOOM International and The Living Heritage Foundation. He has been a volunteer counselor at SCORE-Sacramento for over five years. Lou lives in Davis with his wife Linda who is a past co-president of University Farm Circle.
